North and South Wales Bank Limited cheque

Description and record details

Title North and South Wales Bank Limited cheque
Description A paper cheque of the North & South Wales Bank Limited, issued by Denbighshire County Council, Ruthin on the 1st March 1892.

It is made payable to the Wrexham Police Division to the sum of One Hundred and Forty [sic] Pounds and Ten Shillings.

Written on the back of the cheque is 'Received Cash, Thomas Vaughan, Superintendent, A (Wrexham) Police Division'.

It is a possibility that the cheque was connected to paying the wages of the policemen of that Division. However, that cannot be confirmed.

The cheque was found many years ago, on a tip in Ruthin.
