Castan advises that he has provided the East India Company with letters of advice and lists of British subjects 'going from Ostard [?Ostend] in East India ships belonging to that place, contrary to a late act of parliament'. He also advises. He also refers to correspondence between those in France who are in the service of the 'Pretender' [James Francis Edward Stuart] and Catholics and Jacobites in London, mentioning Captain Maccartan, an Irish officer in the 'French regiment', and Mr Barlow, a carpenter in Coleman Street, London. |
